On April 27, 2026, a delegation from the Institute of Metal Physics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Lomonosov Moscow State University visited the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics
The visit program included a joint seminar aimed at introducing the delegation to the FLNP experimental facilities and establishing scientific collaboration between FLNP and colleagues from the IMP Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Moscow State University. FLNP Director E.V. Lychagin presented a report on the FLNP research infrastructure, and D.P. Kozlenko, Head of the DNICM, introduced the delegation to research on functional materials and nanosystems using neutron scattering methods conducted at the IBR-2 pulsed reactor.
The delegation members delivered presentations in response. Colleagues from the Institute of Metal Physics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Senior Researcher A.G. Smolnikov and Senior Researcher O.A. Babanova, spoke about the application of nuclear magnetic resonance methods in the study of magnetically ordered systems and atomic dynamics in hydridoborates. R.A. Khalaniya, a research fellow at the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University, spoke about new functional materials based on intermetallics with low-dimensional 3D metal substructures.
Following the joint seminar, the delegation visited the IBR-2 research reactor. During a tour of the YuMO, HRFD, RTD, DN-6, REFLEX, REMUR, FSD, SKAT, and NERA research facilities, the delegation learned about their operating principles and key research areas.
