On February 11, 2025, a joint delegation of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) headed by VINATOM President Tran Chi Thanh and representatives of the State Specialized Design Institute (GSPI JSC, company affiliated with Rosatom State Corporation) paid a working visit to the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics.
During the visit, members of the delegation got acquainted with the operation of the unique IBR-2M pulsed research reactor and its beamline instruments.
The issues discussed during the meeting included the participation of FLNP specialists in determining scientific directions for the projected research reactor in Vietnam, the commissioning of which is scheduled for the early 1930s, and the development of beamline instrumentation for the future reactor.
The Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics fully supports the development of experimental facilities in the JINR Member States, which contribute to the formation of a user community of scientists using neutron scattering techniques for condensed matter research. An example of the fruitful cooperation of FLNP is new research facilities at reactors in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
During the discussions, the parties agreed to intensify work on developing projects for research facilities for the reactor being designed in Vietnam, as well as in attracting scientists, students and postgraduates from Vietnam to the work being carried out at the IBR-2M reactor to gain experience in developing units of spectrometers and working on beamline instruments.
