On 3-5 December, the 6th Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists was held at FLNP JINR

On 3-5 December, the 6th Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists was held at FLNP JINR that brought together about 90 participants over three days, including 49 speakers that had submitted their applications for AYSS Grants for the following year, as well as for I.M. Frank and F.L. Shapiro Scholarships for completed series of papers.

Traditionally, the Conference of Young Scientists and specialists of FLNP offers a rich scientific programme, covering a wide range of areas that represent the work of various structures of the Laboratory.

FLNP Director, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Egor Lychagin said about the Conference

"This Conference was initially conceived to simplify the work of the jury that distributed the AYSS Grants, as it was more convenient to look over all the applications. Later, candidates for the I.M. Frank and F.L. Shapiro Scholarships were added. We realized that it was interesting not only for the jury, for this Conference gives an interesting cross-section of the whole Laboratory, what the youth is engaged in, which areas widely develop and which the youth is not involved enough in. As we see, over time the level of reports grows, the participants train. This year, there were 7 reports by master's students from different departments that made a very good impression and sometimes, their reports caused more excitement than the reports of the young employees that have been working in the Laboratory for several years."

FLNP Chief Researcher, Doctor of Physical and Meta-Mathematical Sciences Alexander Frank

"The Conference of Young Scientists of FLNP plays a significant role in the scientific life of the Laboratory, for there are many topics and this Conference is the only event in which all topics are presented - both purely scientific and engineering and technological. It has become a kind of summary of the year of the Laboratory. The results show that we have many young active, energetic and talented people that is very pleasing"

FLNP Deputy Director, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Norbert Kucerka

"The Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists at FLNP regularly shows the young generation's concern for the life of the Laboratory. The decent level of the reports confirms their diligence and good results emphasize their conscientious work. It can be honestly said that only winners spoke at the Conference, although, unfortunately, not all of them could become prize winners!"

This year, for the first time, the participants had the opportunity to vote for the best report in their opinion. As a result of the voting, three employees received the same number of votes and were awarded congratulatory diplomas: Maxim Zakharov, Maxim Podlesny and Sergey Sumnikov.

Vladimir Kurylev

"I was very pleased after the recent Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists of FLNP. It was a great opportunity to learn about the scientific life of my laboratory and to try myself as a speaker. And despite the fact that most of the reports were presented by my fellow laboratory assistants, the overall level of the event, in my opinion, is worthy of the status of a real international conference. That is why I would be glad to take part in such events in future."

Valery Lobachev

«I have been participating in the Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists of FLNP since 2019. It can be stated that the scientific level of the current Conference has reached new heights. The atmosphere of inspiration and mutual support reigned at this event. High competition only fueled the excitement and motivation of the participants and the friendly atmosphere charged with energy and positivity. This is not just a conference - this is a significant event for youth science, a space for intellectual growth and new opportunities."

Alexandra Peshkova

"I would like to emphasize that holding a conference for young scientists and specialists of FLNP allows us to establish relations between colleagues. After all, conferences usually bring together people on similar topics, but in this case, we can learn about various areas within one laboratory. This year, I managed to attend all three days of the Conference, the reports were presented at a high level, you could feel how passionate everyone was about his own work! It was simply impossible to choose one best report at the end of the Conference."

Heba Esawi

«Participating in the FLNP conference for the first time was a profoundly inspiring experience. I was particularly impressed by the event's emphasis on encouraging young scientists to share their research topics, and scientific ideas openly, thereby fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for Youngers. It stood as a testament to the strength of a well-designed scientific ecosystem that cultivates growth, innovation, and the free exchange of knowledge. The 10-minute presentations competition concept that it implicitly carried further challenged us to think creatively and present our research in a concise and impactful manner».
