JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov delivered a welcoming speech. He congratulated the colleagues on the opening of the conference, emphasized the importance of such meetings for the users of the IBR-2 reactor, and wished them new ambitious plans and their successful implementation.
FLNP Director Egor Lychagin noted that this event has already become traditional for FLNP and year after year brings together interested colleagues to discuss current issues in condensed matter physics.
On behalf of the organizing committee, Head of the YuMO Group Alexander Kuklin welcomed the participants and emphasized that this year's conference has a dual status: it is both a meeting of IBR-2 reactor users and a memorial seminar in honor of Yu.M. Ostanevich, which takes place once every five years. This year, these two events coincided with each other and the 70th anniversary of JINR, which gives the event special significance.
"Today we have gathered an international community — IBR-2 users and potential users. This conference is a traditional event, and on behalf of the organizing committee, I want to thank the participants for finding the time to share their scientific results and proposals. We hope for a long and promising future of our cooperation"
Chief Researcher Anatoly Balagurov delivered a commemorative report dedicated to the life, scientific career, and work of Yu.M. Ostanevich — a scientist who made a huge contribution to the development of neutron physics and research at the IBR-2 reactor.
Аfter the opening ceremony, a series of plenary reports took place. Head of the Department Denis Kozlenko spoke about the current state and prospects for the development of neutron instrumentation for condensed matter research at the IBR-2 pulsed reactor.
Inga Zinicovscaia presented a report on neutron activation analysis at IBR-2, Mira Aničić Urošević — on 20 years of collaboration with FLNP in environmental monitoring, Valentin Borshchevskiy — on neutron crystallography of rhodopsin, Albert Guskov — on cryo-electron microscopy for biology, Pavel Maksimov — on cobalt-based magnets according to neutron scattering data.
At the end of the day, a poster session was held, featuring 25 presentations.
