On June 25–26, the 63rd session of the JINR Programme Advisory Committee on Condensed Matter Physics took place

FLNP Director Egor Lychagin presented a report on the current status of the IBR‑2 reactor, prospects for its operation, and progress in the development of a new advanced neutron source for JINR. Plans for facility upgrades and further development of the neutron infrastructure were discussed.

Head of the Department Denis Kozlenko reported on the development of a spectrometer for neutron imaging and small‑angle scattering. An update on the completion of the neutron imaging facility was presented, along with the first experimental results obtained with the new instrument.

Head of the Sector Vasil Milkov delivered a report on the ongoing project "Development of a wide‑aperture backscattering detector (DOR‑A) for the FDHR diffractometer" within the framework of the theme "Pulsed neutron source and spectrometer complex."

Leading Researcher Maria Balasoiu presented the results of studies on the structural properties of carbon fibres derived from waste materials and their potential applications.

Scientific Secretary of FLNP Alexander Nezvanov provided an update on scientific conferences organised by FLNP.

The session also featured presentations by young scientists in the field of condensed matter physics. Following the competition, the first, second, and third places were awarded to FLNP researchers:

  1. Marina Naumenko — "Small‑angle X‑ray scattering (SAXS) and complementary methods in the characterisation of liposomal delivery systems for bioactive isothiocyanates";
  2. Veronika Smirnova — "Non‑destructive neutron tomography of ceramic vessels from the Shubarat‑1 archaeological site";
  3. Marina Donets — "Effect of heat treatment on polyaniline‑modified Prussian White and its properties."

 Additionally, the winners of the previous PAC session competition — Evgeny Kolupaev, Polina Kobchikova, and Polina Gergelizhiu — were awarded.
