The delegation included:
- Gulzat Kobenova - Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Adilzhan Serikov - Director of the Department of Strategic and Sustainable Development of the RSE "Institute of Nuclear Physics" AEA RK;
- Askar Jumadildaev - Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Yerzhan Mukhamedzhanov - Head of the national group of Kazakhstan at JINR.
"Many years of fruitful cooperation unites us with the scientists from Kazakhstan. Today's meeting within the walls of the Laboratory and an excursion to the IBR-2 reactor is not just learning about the facility but an opportunity to discuss particular measures to strengthen our cooperation. I am convinced that our shared possibilities will allow us to start new major projects"
The guests visited the IBR-2 reactor - the basic facility of FLNP JINR. A detailed report on the capabilities of the spectrometers complex of IBR-2 was given for them. The participants of the meeting were particularly interested in the integration of scientific programmes and the possible expanding of the participation of scientists from Kazakhstan in experiments on the base of JINR.
“A special focus of the Kazakh delegation was on learning about the IBR-2 pulsed reactor, as well as its current instruments, including YuMO, HRFD, NRT and REGATA. Obtaining a comprehensive understanding of the scientific and technological capabilities of these instruments is crucial for the development in the Republic of Kazakhstan of its own advanced research infrastructure in the field of neutron physics. Cooperation with JINR, including through FLNP, is considered as an essential contribution to the development of national scientific priorities, including the preparation of a megascience project aimed at developing high-intensity sources of very cold and ultracold neutrons based on the VVR-K reactor"
Also today, on March 27, Sayabek Sakhiyev — Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, and Director General of the RSE "Institute of Nuclear Physics" of the NAE RK — celebrates his 55th anniversary.
Sayabek Sakhiyev makes a significant contribution to the development of scientific diplomacy and the strengthening of long-standing cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and JINR. Thanks to his proactive stance and high professionalism, joint scientific programs are successfully implemented, the participation of Kazakhstani scientists in world-class research is expanding, and areas important for both sides are being developed.
The employees of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research express their sincere gratitude to Sayabek Sakhiyev for his fruitful collaboration, unwavering attention to joint projects, and personal contribution to fostering closer ties between scientific schools!
