FLNP Directorate regrets to announce the passing of one of the oldest staff members of the Laboratory, Viktor M. Morozov

Viktor M. Morozov      07.05.1939 - 05.10.2024

Viktor Morozov started his career at JINR in the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions in 1963 as a mechanic, later – as a radio assembler. After having graduated from MIREA in 1971, he was moved to the position of engineer. Afterwards, he was appointed to the position of Head of Group supporting the operation of the Minsk-32 computer. In 1992, he moved to the Institute of Physics and Power Engineering (Obninsk) as a leading engineer in a scientific group based at JINR that was engaged in the investigation of the dynamics of the condensed matter on the DIN-2PI spectrometer at the IBR-2 reactor. With his active involvement, numerous experiments were carried out aimed at studying elementary excitations in liquid helium, phonon spectra of metals in the liquid state and the atomic dynamics of refractory materials at high temperatures. All this experimental work required the highest level of engineering support. After the DIN-2PI inelastic neutron scattering spectrometer of direct geometry had been transferred to JINR in April 2015, Viktor Morozov returned to work at FLNP as a leading engineer. The resulting and efficient operation of the DIN-2PI spectrometer is largely due to its contribution to the technical support of both the spectrometer itself and the sample environment systems.

A remarkable person has passed away.

We mourn and express our deep condolences to his family and friends. The memory of Viktor Morozov will forever remain in our hearts.

FLNP staff.

Farewell to Viktor Morozov will be held on 8 October, 2024 in the funeral hall of the morgue on the left bank at 12:00-1:00 PM. Burial at the Bolshevolzhskoye Cemetery - at 1:30-2:00 PM.
