"Polarized Neutron Reflectometry"

Neutron reflectometry was developed and widely used in the mid-1980s, when intense pulsed neutron sources were developed. The IBR-2 reactor was among them, on which, soon after the start of operation of the reactor, one of the world's first polarized neutron spectrometers PNS with the original, invented specifically for PNS, Korneev spin flipper was constructed, headed by D. A. Korneev. Subsequently, the polarized neutron reflectometer REFLEX was constructed and on the basis of PNS, a new facility was developed - one of the best reflectometers in the world REMUR, on which techniques of advanced 3D reflectometry were developed for studying the magnetic and structural properties of surfaces and multilayer nanomaterials. Techniques for registering a resonantly enhanced neutron wave field have been proposed and developed.
The basic scientific results obtained using FLNP reflectometers that determine the prospects for the development of polarization neutron reflectometry and create the scientific basis for a new neutron source, are discussed in the report.
