"Development of Neutron Imaging Methods at the IR‑8 Research Reactor and Their Applications"
Mikhail Murashev (NRC KI, Moscow)
The report presents the results of the development and creation of a modern specialized experimental facility for neutron imaging at the IR‑8 stationary research reactor. The DRACON station enables studies using a monochromatic neutron beam over a wide wavelength range, while the PONI neutron imaging setup allows investigations using a polychromatic neutron beam with high spatial resolution. These newly established specialized neutron imaging stations make it possible to address a wide range of current scientific and applied problems in fields such as materials science, geology, archaeology, and paleontology.
The report will also present the results of studies of promising metal products manufactured by additive technologies, demonstrating the capabilities of neutron imaging methods both for non‑destructive testing and for qualitative determination of texture features. In addition, the results of studies of unique objects of Russia’s cultural heritage will be presented.
