This lecture is devoted to boron — an element of life, a metalloid that is at the center of attention of modern science and applied research. Boron and its compounds play an important role in various fields such as nucleosynthesis, nuclear fusion and fission technologies, military science, radiation protection, safeguards, nuclear medicine, and life sciences. The speaker will discuss some experimental studies on the interaction of neutrons with the isotopes ¹⁰B and ¹¹B. Special attention will be paid to the need for obtaining new, more reliable, and credible neutron-nuclear data, including within the framework of the international research project TANGRA.
