"On the possibilities of experiments with high-energy neutron beams at the VBLHEP accelerator complex"
Anton Baldin (VBLHEP, JINR)
Experimental conditions for producing quasi-monochromatic neutron beams with energies from 100 MeV to 4 GeV on derived Nuclotron beams are discussed. Possible experiments with generation of a high-energy neutron spectrum during interaction of beams of relativistic nuclei with extended targets at the Nuclear Energy Technology Research Stations are considered. Based on experimental data obtained using a liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber irradiated with quasi-monochromatic neutron beams with pulses from ~ 1 to ~ 5 GeV/s, spectra of secondary protons are analyzed aimed at optimizing the design of detectors for the registration of high-energy neutrons.
