Scientific problem:
Several instruments are located on the flight paths of the Resonance Neutron Source (IREN) of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics where measurements of neutron transmission, capture, and scattering by samples are conducted. The analysis of experimental data, assessment of feasibility, and planning of experiments require iformation on the absolute fluxes of fast, resonance, and thermal neutrons at the sample locations. In these qualification works, neutron flux measurements will be performed using various methods, and comparisons of the obtained experimental data on neutron fluxes will be made among themselves, as well as with calculation results.
Objective:
Measurement of neutron fluxes at FLNP facilities for further use in scheduled experiments and data analysis.
Tasks:
1. Estimation of thermal and resonance neutron fluxes at the sample location using NAA.
2. Estimation of the resonance neutron flux at the sample location using strong resonances.
3. Estimation of the fast neutron flux at the sample location using threshold reactions.
Research facilities:
Experimental beamlines of the IREN facility.
